Panel Repair & Upgrades in Abuja

Distribution panels sized for a building’s original load rarely match its current demand after years of added appliances, air conditioning, or equipment. Our team assesses panel condition and capacity, then repairs, re-rates, or replaces switchgear to bring it back within safe operating margins.

What this service solves

Who it’s for

  • Recurring tripped breakers or warm panel covers
  • Adding major loads (AC units, EV chargers, industrial equipment)
  • Pre-purchase or insurance-driven electrical inspection findings
Engineering scope

What’s included

  • Panel inspection and thermal assessment
  • Single-phase and three-phase panel repair and upgrades
  • Breaker and busbar repair or replacement
  • Capacity upgrades and panel re-rating
  • Surge protection device installation
  • Labelling and circuit schedule updates
Technical considerations
  • Panel condition checked against the load it actually carries, as well as for visible wear
  • Breaker and busbar coordination checked so a repair doesn’t just move the failure point elsewhere
  • Re-rating or replacement planned with room for future load growth, as well as fixing the immediate fault
How we deliver it

How this work comes together

  1. 01

    Inspection & thermal assessment

Panel opened, breakers, busbars, and connections checked, with a thermal scan where warranted.

  2. 02

    Diagnosis

We find the root cause: undersized capacity, a failing component or a wiring fault.

  3. 03

    Repair or upgrade

Faulty components replaced, or the panel re-rated and upgraded where capacity itself is the problem.

  4. 04

    Testing & labelling

Circuits re-tested, and the circuit schedule and labelling updated to match what’s actually installed.

— Documentation

What you may receive

For panel repair & upgrades, depending on the project and the agreed scope. We provide documentation appropriate to the size and complexity of the job.

All engineering deliverables →
  • Load Assessment & Schedules

Connected loads, estimated demand, circuit schedules, distribution requirements, and existing versus proposed loads, giving a clearer basis for design and upgrade decisions.

  • Electrical Installation Documentation

Distribution board schedules, circuit identification, cable information, equipment schedules, and installation photographs.

  • Inspection Records

Where inspection is part of the agreed scope, observations recorded as work progresses, as well as at the end.

  • Testing

Test results recorded before handover, plus as-built information and solar/backup handover information where produced.

  • Maintenance Recommendations

A clear breakdown of what needs immediate attention, what can be monitored, and what can be scheduled as a future upgrade, so you can prioritize rather than treat every issue as equally urgent.

Common questions

What services does Kell Electricals provide?

A full range of electrical engineering services: wiring and installation, panel repair and upgrades, solar and hybrid inverter systems, home automation, CCTV and security, generator installation and maintenance, industrial electrical systems, and scheduled preventive maintenance. The full list is on our Services page.

Do you offer ongoing maintenance, or only one-off jobs?

Both. We handle one-off installation and repair work, and we run the Kell AssetCare Programme: scheduled maintenance in four tiers (Essential, Professional, Advanced, Enterprise) with an asset register and a written report after every visit. See the Maintenance & AMC page for details; pricing is confirmed in your proposal.

Do you work on both residential and commercial projects?

Yes, and industrial too. Scope, documentation, and compliance requirements differ by property type, which is why we treat residential, commercial, and industrial work as distinct engineering problems rather than the same job at different sizes.

Can you work alongside my architect or contractor on a fit-out?

Yes. Commercial and office fit-out electrical work is a regular part of our scope, coordinated with architects, M&E consultants and the wider construction timeline.

Do you have examples of completed commercial electrical work?

Yes. For example, we delivered the complete electrical decking, conduit piping, wiring, and fixture installation and finishing for a cooperative society's building in Garki II, Abuja. See our Projects page for more recent work across residential, commercial, and industrial properties.

How much does house rewiring cost in Abuja?

It depends on the property's size, current wiring condition, and how many circuits, sockets, and fixtures are involved. Rewiring a two-bedroom flat and a multi-storey house aren't comparable jobs. We don't quote a number without a site visit, since guessing risks under- or over-pricing the actual scope. Request a quote and we'll assess the property directly.

What do hybrid inverter systems cost in Nigeria?

Hybrid inverter and battery system pricing depends on inverter capacity, battery chemistry and bank size, and whether it's a backup-only setup or one designed to carry most of your daily load (see our guide on sizing a hybrid inverter system for why that distinction matters). We size and quote from a real load assessment.

How much does smart home automation cost?

It scales with scope. A few automated lighting circuits costs far less than whole-property lighting, climate, and access control on one platform. Retrofitting an existing property also typically costs more than wiring automation into a new build from the start. We scope and quote after understanding what you actually want to control.
