Solar Installation, Inverter & Backup Power Technician Training
This 12-week programme teaches you to size, install, test and troubleshoot solar PV, inverter and battery systems. You will work from a client’s load list to a commissioned system, not just connect panels to an inverter. Next cohort to be announced: register your interest and we will contact you.

- PV and battery checks
- Protection checks
- Inverter configuration and start-up
- Monitoring and performance checks
- Commissioning documentation and client handover
Weeks 11 to 12
Troubleshooting and maintenance
You learn to ask what failed, why it failed and how to confirm the cause, rather than just replacing parts.
- Inverter alarms and low-battery faults
- Charging faults and PV underperformance
- Polarity problems and loose connections
- Overload and protection trips
- Incorrect cable selection and configuration problems
- Battery communication and abnormal voltage
- Poor workmanship and routine maintenance
Practical work runs through the programme. Where suitable projects are available, you may see real installations under supervision.

Employment and certification
Completing a training programme does not guarantee employment with us.
A completion certificate confirms completion of the relevant programme requirements. It is not a government licence, COREN registration, NEMSA competency certification, a professional engineering registration or a manufacturer-authorised installer certification. Anyone who needs statutory or professional certification must complete that external process separately.
Completing this programme does not make you a licensed electrician, a professional engineer or a COREN-registered engineer. NEMSA runs a separate competency certification process for electrical installation personnel.
